Outcome of Urethroplasty in Management of Urethral Stricture: Experience at Institute of Kidney Diseases Hayatabad Peshawar

Objective: To determine the frequency of successful outcomes urethroplasty in management urethral stricture Methods: It is a descriptive study, conducted department Urology at Institute Kidney diseases Peshawar from April 2016 to December 2019. A total number 85 patients for were included study by non-probability convenient sampling. The entire pre-operative, per-operative, and postoperative data collected on structured proforma analyzed SPSS®, version 20.0. Results: mean age patient this was 41 years. Regarding etiology, External trauma major cause form road traffic accidents 38.82% while straddle injury 29.41% patients, other less frequent causes iatrogenic infective stricture. bulbar found 55.29% cases, with proximal penile bulboperineal accounting 23.52% 21.17% respectively. Significant past surgical history suprapubic catheterization 100%, failed primary attempt internal optical urethrotomy (IOU) 29.41%, multiple recurrences 48.23%, re-do 10.58% cases. most common procedure performed end-to-end anastomotic 81%, procedures flap urethroplasty, pull-through procedure, cases required pubectomy. Urethroplasty highly 94% follow-ups 15 months. failure wound infection 1, UTI 2, necrosis skin 2 patients.
